Technology and consulting firm PCIS has updated its Devfense security suite of services with a Web and network security product called WSA Diagnostic.
The product is said to ensure the health of an organisation's Web assets through investigation, analysis, and planned security improvements.
"WSA Diagnostic gives owners and administrators a snapshot of their Web application's structure, with supplemental information on the site's operation, security posture and strategy for fixing vulnerabilities," says PCIS president Vaclav Vincalek.
He notes that sometimes Web applications or Web services aren't tested or reviewed frequently enough. "Sometimes, these Web assets are updated or upgraded. Other times, applications are inherited from other departments during corporate restructuring,” Vincalek explains.
“We also find that with new applications provided by a third party or those that need to undergo testing before going live, there can be security issues. All of these cases would be good candidates for getting a diagnosis against cyber threats," he continues.
The WSA Diagnostic report can be used as an information tool by IT and Web application developers, states PCIS. It also serves the core evaluation data by the company's Web security consultants during a WSA analysis where potentially a library of hundreds of thousands of security tests are performed, adds PCIS.
"A lot of business owners are concerned today about the loss of productivity and operational continuity when their employees get sick," Vincalek says.
"But the health of an organisation's Web assets is also critical for maintaining operations. We've seen what happens to organisations whose Web assets get hacked, and they lose days, sometimes weeks, of productivity, every time it happens.
“We hope that more companies will take advantage of the tools available to protect themselves and their stakeholders,” he concludes.
