Varsity dons new avatar

Teaching and learning in Delhi University is all set to don a new avatar, states Hindustan Times.

The varsity, that had already announced an e-learning portal two months back, will commence e-classrooms from 18 August.

While the e-portal hosts e-quizzes, -lectures, -labs and -lessons, these virtual classrooms, which have been developed by the Institute of Life Long Learning, will be an extension of actual classes.

Recession boosts online trading

Recession is turning out as a boost to one business sector; online trading, reports Emirates 24/7.

This comes as retrenched professionals, housewives needing to support family incomes and even children as young as 13 years of age, faced with lack of jobs are turning in larger numbers to try and make a buck through online trading.

“We started in 2005, but in fact, the demand increased after recession,” said Tareq Abu Hantash, general manager at the Dubai branch of Online Trading Academy.

Governor calls for e-learning exploration

As the back to school season begins, lieutenant governor Walter Dalton, chairman of North Carolina's e-learning commission, is calling on citizens across the state to explore going “back to school” online, notes NCNN.

The state's online Web portal provides one of the richest reference points for central access to K-20 online educational resources in the US.

North Carolina currently offers more online courses and degree programmes than any other state.
