Varsity site to enable e-learning

Colorado Technical University, a private university in US, unveiled a new Web site for the college, writes Thaindian News.

This site is, however, not like other informative organisational sites, but it has been created to enable online for the students to facilitate a better distant learning.

This endeavour, on the part of the university, will enable in identifying, pursuing and enhancing the students' careers in technology dependent industries better.

Library offers free computer education

Free computer education is being offered at the Norwich Public Library with the return of the Community Access Programme, reports Tillsonburg News.

This year, Sam Sergeant, a Grade 12 Glendale High School student who lives just outside of Norwich, is heading up the programme.

"Our services are for everyone from young students to seniors. We'll work with them so they learn everything from the basics of how to use a mouse, type, to using social sites, setting up email, downloading music," Sergeant said.

Training focus shifts again

According to Bird, learning consultancy director at KnowledgePool, while customers initially hired external specialists to buy and administer their training in order to cut costs, as the market developed, the emphasis changed to improving the quality of service provision, states Training Zone.

He says the focus is now starting to shift again. "Today's clients want a dedicated team of advisors who can respond to individual learners and route all of their training enquiries to the most appropriate intervention every time, whether that's an in-house solution, an e-learning course, a coaching programme, informal learning or a best-in-class external supplier," Bird says.

This means that training may not always be the best option, with alternatives such as internal assignments or projects proving more appropriate in certain circumstances, he says.
