VERITAS Software has appointed Edusoft Company Ltd as its Indian Ocean Islands distributor for the VERITAS volume product range. In keeping with this newly established distribution agreement, VERITAS aims to grow its market share in this region.
Despite serving all the islands in the region, Edusoft`s main focus is on Mauritius, Reunion and Madagascar. According to Tien Yuen Yong, GM of Edusoft, the company was formed in 1997 with the objective of becoming the foremost multi-vendor distributor of the Mauritian IT sector. "We have reached our original objective and apart from acting as VERITAS distributor, we also represent Microsoft, Symantec and Creative in the region."
Mike Rees, Business Development Manager: Africa, at VERITAS Software, says Edusoft was selected because of its strong Microsoft skills base, among other things. "Their position as Microsoft distributor provided them with an in-depth skills-base in that area along with extensive channel partner knowledge of Mauritius, Madagascar and Reunion."
Rees describes the region as important to VERITAS and believes Edusoft will be able to grow and support a VERITAS reseller base, as well as implement the VERITAS partner programme there.
A key objective of this agreement is to grow VERITAS market share in the region. According to Yong, Edusoft will work to raise awareness of the brand in the Indian Ocean Islands.
"In addition to the enhanced reseller support that having a distributor in Port Louis will provide, this partnership should offer VERITAS increased visibility in the region," concludes Rees.
