Helping companies to optimise management and performance of Oracle9i database environments, storage software vendor, VERITAS, has introduced VERITAS Database Edition 3.0 for Oracle -- a storage virtualisation solution for the latest Oracle relational database management system (RDBMS) platform.
According to Nick van Noordwyk, regional director, Middle East and Africa at VERITAS Software, the new product is the first to leverage Oracle Disk Manager (ODM), an advanced file management infrastructure. "The result is greatly simplified administration of the underlying Oracle9i Database server and storage environment, while still providing the level of performance required for critical database environments and applications," he notes.
This view is supported by IDC research director for storage software service, Bill North, who describes the work VERITAS Software and Oracle have done together as providing solutions that combine simple, flexible storage management with the promise of outstanding performance. "These solutions allow customers to efficiently manage data and network growth and to leverage their existing storage and server resources," he says.
"VERITAS` storage virtualisation technology provides online configuration functionality, file system manageability and storage device independence for Oracle9i Database environments," adds Van Noordwyk.
VERITAS Database Edition for Oracle also integrates with other VERITAS Software products that help protect and enhance the availability of Oracle Database applications, providing companies with a complete storage management framework specifically designed for Oracle environments.
