VERITAS Volume Manager features an online graphical user interface and offers complementary functionality for the online storage management of Windows enterprises deploying traditional point-to-point and SAN storage solutions.

The Backup application for Windows NT and Windows 2000
The in-box backup application for Windows 2000 is based on technology used in VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows NT and Windows 2000. Both applications share backup media, integrate with Microsoft`s Removable Storage Management (RSM) and support key applications, such as Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Cluster Service (Wolfpack). VERITAS Backup Exec includes additional features and options, such as complete protection of remote Windows NT and Windows 2000-based machines, enhanced disaster recovery, centralised administration and management, fault tolerant and alert notification, and support for online backup of Microsoft SQL Server, as well as other open files.
The Remote Storage application for Windows NT and Windows 2000
VERITAS Software worked with Microsoft to put Hierarchal Storage Management (HSM) into the Windows 2000 box. The in-box technology, known as Remote Storage Services, provides automated file migration to tape media. The more advanced VERITAS Storage Migrator product supports automatic migration of more than just files to more than just tape. HSM enables clients direct access to infrequently used data and enables system administrators to scale to virtually limitless storage demands.
The MSI Repackager for Windows NT and Windows 2000 Microsoft has licensed VERITAS WinINSTALL LE as the in-box solution for the Windows 2000-based repackaging tool that converts legacy applications to the Microsoft Software Installer (MSI) format. The upcoming release of VERITAS WinINSTALL, scheduled to ship in 2Q 2000, will provide comprehensive change management throughout the PC application lifecycle and deliver unsurpassed functionality to the Windows 2000 software distribution environment. Enhanced capabilities include comprehensive .MSI enhancements for Windows 2000, including a single console for both .MSI and .NAI files, multiple distribution methods for .MSI packages, extensive editing of .MSI tables and simplified software deployment to non-connected machines.
