Veritas Software supports IBM eServer packaged offerings

VERITAS Software has announced that it will support IBM`s recently released e-business infrastructure offerings.

The IBM offerings are package-priced hardware, storage and system software with optional middleware and services, to provide pSeries customers with reliable, flexible and affordable infrastructure foundations, for building and running e-business applications. IBM`s packages also include low-cost financing.

The Veritas NetBackup solutions` out-of-the box support of IBM`s E-infrastructure packages provides enterprises with data protection for pSeries platforms running the AIX operating system, and also offers features for backup and recovery of databases and mission-critical applications such as IBM`s DB2 Universal Database, Oracle and Lotus Domino.

"More than ever, e-businesses require a robust infrastructure with best-of-breed software and hardware that will effectively support today`s stringent computing demands," says Nick van Noordwyk, regional director, Middle East and Africa at Veritas Software.

"IBM`s offerings augmented by Veritas Software`s data protection solutions will provide a comprehensive and affordable foundation for business-critical e-business applications. The combination of Veritas NetBackup with IBM`s infrastructure packages brings down the overall cost of computing for p640 and p660 users.

"With this announcement, IBM Unix systems and middleware are now available to all Veritas customers," concludes Van Noordwyk.
