Verizon powers Thing5 offering

Thing5, a provider of messaging-based services to the industry, is using Verizon VOIP and hosting services to offer voice and messaging services for hotel employees and guests, says TMCnet.

Under an agreement with Verizon Business, Thing5 is providing its hosted platform through a software-as-a- (SaaS) model to approximately 1 300 hotels, covering more than 275 000 phones.

With the help of a SaaS model, applications such as voicemail, automatic call distribution, audio conferencing, faxing and instant messaging are hosted by a vendor rather than the customer.

For the last three years he has served in a senior sales and marketing position at security distributor Comguard.

Digi International introduces XBee Sensors

Digi International has introduced XBee Sensors, battery-powered, long-life wireless sensors for integration into Drop-in Networking applications or ZigBee networks, reports Trading Markets.

ZigBee technology enables low-power networking of devices in self-configuring, self-healing wireless mesh networks.

Compact XBee sensors allow customers to collect real-time data from multiple nodes across a ZigBee network and are ideal for applications in building automation, security, energy management, food management, and freight/vehicle monitoring.
