NEC Computers International Group announces today that is expanding the choices available to its corporate customers by integrating the latest Mobile Intel Celeron processors, including the new 500Mhz Mobile Celeron processor, into two of its notebook computer ranges.
The mainstream Versa Note VX is now available with two new 500MHz Celeron processor-powered configurations - one with a 13.3" TFT display, the other with a 14.1" TFT. In addition, the Versa Lite FX expands its line-up. A new a 400MHz Celeron processor-driven model joins the existing Celeron 333MHz and Pentium III 400 and 500MHz processor-equipped models.
Now available at speeds up to 500MHz, Mobile Intel Celeron processors deliver great performance and outstanding value for mobile computing. The Mobile Celeron processor provides increased performance over past generations of Mobile Intel processors while offering optimized battery life thanks to its low-voltage design.

Versa Note VX
The Versa Note VX is a corporate value notebook that delivers unprecedented features, power and flexibility to mainstream business users. The current VX roster is strengthened by the addition of two new Mobile Intel Celeron processor-powered models: one with a 13.1" TFT display, the other with a 14.1" TFT. The Versa Note VX is also available with a 466MHz Celeron processor, and 500 and 450MHz Mobile Pentium III processors.
The all-in-one design of the Versa Note VX gives users instant access to its broad range of features: the three-spindle design incorporates a removable hard drive (18GB max.), floppy drive, 24X CD-ROM or optional 6X DVD drive, and Li-Ion battery. For today`s connectivity needs, the Versa Note VX can be ordered with an internal mini-PCI 56K modem and/or a miniPCI 10/100 LAN controller. It also comes with two Type II PC Card slots for maximum expandability, and features two dedicated hotkeys for one-touch access to email and the Web.
Convenient, front-mounted media buttons provide easy control of CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. The user can even listen to music CDs when the system is powered down. If the Versa Note VX is destined for use in a secure corporate environment, the media buttons can be replaced with PIN code keypad to secure access to the notebook.
The Versa Note VX is available with Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0, and comes with a full range of productivity software and utilities, including Microsoft Word 2000, Works and Money 99, and a Recovery CD. Versa Note is PC 99 ready and ACPI compliant. The keyboard has a Euro keycap.
Versa Lite FX
A full-featured ultra-portable notebook, the Versa Lite FX offers the choice of four Intel processors - 400 and 333MHz Mobile Celeron and 400 and 500MHz Mobile Pentium III processors - plus 64MB of RAM and a roomy 6GB (12GB max.) hard drive. In addition, it boasts an eye-catching 12.1" TFT display and built-in 56K modem. The Versa Lite FX also comes standard with an external floppy drive and 24X CD-ROM drive.
Equally at home on the road or in the office, the FX can be built-to-order with a built-in Mini-PCI 100baseTX/10BaseT LAN card. Perfect for long trips, the Versa Lite FX tips the scales at a mere 1.54kg, and offers up to 8 hours of battery life, when combining the optional standard 6-cell battery with the supplementary 9-cell battery pack.
Shipped standard with three USB ports and VGA-out, the Versa Lite FX also offers expanded connectivity through the optional PortBar, which comes with the full panoply of connectors, including a serial port and PS/2 adapter. The headphone and microphone jacks are conveniently located on the front of the unit. The Versa Lite FX is available with Windows 98, and comes with a full range of productivity software and utilities, including Microsoft Word 2000, Works 4.5A and Money 99, and a Recovery CD. Versa Lite FX is PC 99 ready and ACPI compliant. The keyboard is equipped with a Euro keycap.
