Vietnam deal for Datacraft

Johannesburg, 03 Nov 2003

Dimension company Datacraft Asia has won a $2.1 million contract to build a new load-sharing for Ho Chi Minh Post & Telecommunications (HCM) in Vietnam.

This is the second full-scale network provider project the company has won in Vietnam.

HCM is a subsidiary of Vietnam Post & Telecommunications (VNPT) and accounts for 30% of the group`s revenue.

Rapid growth in Internet traffic meant HCM needed a new load-sharing network that could provide dial-up access, e-mail and billing services. It would also have to be interconnected with VNPT`s Vietnam Network.

Lim Seng Kong, Datacraft`s regional director for south Asia, says Datacraft was chosen to install the network ahead of competition from Fujitsu Vietnam and HP`s local partner.

Lim says the new architecture was designed to help HCM build on its legacy systems. New servers and modules can be added as the customer base increases.

The full solution is to be implemented by the end of the year, after which Datacraft will operate the network in trial mode, with the final handover to HCM taking place by 1 May next year.
