Virgin Media signs Disney deal

Virgin Media has signed a content deal with Disney covering TV, online and mobile broadcasting, states PaidContent UK.

Virgin Media subscribers will be able to watch Disney XD kids' channel and other Disney on-demand broadcasts on any platform.

According to Virgin Media, 55% of its customers regularly watch on-demand content, amounting to 62 million monthly views this year.

Mobile broadcasting standard gets go-ahead

A third-generation standard for mobile broadcasting has been approved by the Global System for Mobile Association, reports TVB Tech Alert.

The 3GPP Integrated Mobile Broadcast Standard facilitates mobile broadcasting over different types of cellular networks.

According to the association, traditionally, small-scale mobile TV deployments have been hampered by large consumption.

Mobistar brings mobile TV to iPhone

Mobistar, a mobile operator in Belgium, has rolled out high-definition television on iPhone 3G and 3GS, says TMCnet.

Mobistar says it's expanding its mobile television range in a partnership with public broadcasting companies VRT and RTBF.

The mobile television platform is set to become available to other smartphones before the end of this year.
