Virtual servers need backing up
As enterprises virtualise their data centres to cut costs and consolidate their servers, they may be setting themselves up for big trouble, says InternetNews.
According to the latest disaster recovery research report from Symantec, based on surveys of 1 000 IT managers in large organisations worldwide, 35% of an organisation's virtual servers are not included in its disaster recovery (DR) plans.
Worse yet, not all virtual servers included in an organisation's DR plan will be backed up. Only 37% of respondents to the survey said they back up more than 90% of their virtual systems.

Speciality Bakers selects Acronis
Specialty Bakers recently deployed IT backup and recovery software from Acronis to reduce downtime during system recovery, reports Market Watch.
The company replaced its time-consuming, file-based tape technology with both Acronis True Image Workstation and Acronis True Image Server for Windows.
The software recovers an entire server or workstation to either an existing system or to a new system, even if it has different hardware. Business analysis, sales reporting, mission-critical legacy applications for electronic data interchange and production documents can now be restored to their original state within minutes after a system crash or disaster scenario.
