Virtualisation is coming

Virtualisation is a hot topic in today's enterprise, with the Yankee Group predicting that by the end of this year, nine out of every 10 enterprises will have implemented virtualisation into their IT infrastructure.

IDC predicts the virtualisation services market will be worth $11.7 billion by 2011.

This full-day event will feature talks on different aspects of virtualisation, such as the business case for virtualisation, by Andrew Geere, IT operations manager, Alexander Forbes. He will explain Alexander Forbes' journey with virtualisation and the lessons learned.

Another speaker, regional systems engineer for VMware Southern Africa, Niall Kritzinger, will discuss real-world virtualisation scenarios, and how to avoid common mistakes. He will cover high-level storage, centre, and desktop components required for virtualisation.

Johann van der Merwe, senior consultant at Deloitte, will speak on the issue of in a virtualised environment. In his presentation, he aims to distinguish fact from fear, uncertainty and doubt.
