Visa opens developer centre

Electronic payments giant, Visa unveiled the Visa Developer Centre, a Web site that provides developers with the programming and development tools they need to create and deploy payment applications, Bank Systems & Technology reports.

Visa says it hopes to simplify and accelerate the development and adoption of payments solutions around the world with the help of this resource.

"The convergence of Web, mobile and social networks is revolutionising the way people buy and sell, and is driving the creation of new and innovative ways to pay," says Jim McCarthy, global head of product for Visa.

According to Market Watch, the Visa Developer Centre will enable e-commerce merchants, financial institutions, mobile network operators and gaming developers to integrate Visa payment functionality into their product offerings.

ZDNet says Visa is also introducing V.me, its acceptance mark for its digital wallet that aims to solidify the brand and expand its digital payments solutions.

V.me lets shoppers pay without sharing their card account information at the point of sale. It will also provide users with transaction alerts and the ability to receive real-time, personalised offers.
