One Technology Group (OTG) has had its Vision Enterprise and Vision Discovery desktop systems "Designed for Windows" certified through the National Software Testing Laboratory (NSTL), in a bid to further increase the quality of its products.
"Because we now comply with the same standards as international brands, we saw this as an opportunity to not only meet the requirements of South African and local government tender specifications, but also to show our corporate and reseller market that Vision offers the same quality as a traditional tier-1 product, at a lower price," says Bruce Askham, Operations Director at OTG.
Certification assures users that all components used in Vision systems are fully compliant with Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows 95 and 98, as well as Windows NT 4.0.
"This is not an easy certification to attain. To successfully pass the tests, we had to make numerous BIOS adjustments," says Askham. He adds that OTG worked closely with its component suppliers, including motherboard manufacturer ASUS, in order to make the adjustments necessary to achieve 100 percent compatibility.
"After successfully completing the tests, the results were sent to the Windows Hardware Quality Laboratories and, following a close examination of the results, certification was awarded," says Askham.
Another spin-off benefit for the customer, says Askham, is that Vision products will not change internal components more often than necessary. "We have had to standardise on certain products, as each new system must be submitted for full testing. "This leads to a more stable product, ensuring corporate customers can plan according to the Vision roadmap," he concludes.
