Vision Solutions eyes Africa

Vision Solutions, the US arm of JSE-listed Idion Technology Holdings, is positioning itself to extend its offerings into Africa.

Idion was left with Vision Solutions as its only operating subsidiary after it sold its South African operations to CS Holdings earlier this year.

"The African market is presenting a number of opportunities in a largely unexploited market," says Derrick Plank, newly appointed Vision director for Africa. "We have a number of high-profile clients in the region, particularly major national and multinational corporations that use our software."

Plank, whose appointment was announced at the end of last week, has been charged with the task of extending the company`s offerings into Africa.

Previously corporate account manager at Symantec in Johannesburg, Plank also spent 12 years at IBM SA, primarily in account management roles servicing the financial services sector.

"My broad experience will allow me to understand and address the needs of both business partners and customers in the African region," he says. "I want to increase the solutions capabilities of the Vision Solutions partners in the region through our new partner programme."

Vision Solutions, which is headquartered in Irvine, California, provides solutions aimed at assuring the availability of a company`s mission-critical applications and .
