Vision Solutions launches new version of Symbiator

Johannesburg, 16 Apr 2002

The next generation of Idion subsidiary Vision Solutions` integration solution, Symbiator 4.0, was launched yesterday at the International Oracle Users Group in San Diego, California.

Vision says Symbiator integrates an enterprise by providing real-time information and can be used in any enterprise where there is a need to share data between systems of databases.

Three new components have been added to the package: Adaptive Integration Methodology, providing a structured approach to data sharing and business unit integration; Enterprise Data Engine, which executes the data sharing model and supports the major databases from IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and Sybase; and Guardians, embedded intelligent services which monitor Symbiator`s processes.

"Symbiator provides a total solution for an enterprise to integrate and utilise all the information it needs to run its business," says Vision executive VP David Wegman. "Other competing products in the market offer only pieces of the data integration puzzle."

The company says the solution has been implemented at Flextronix International subsidiary Multek, a value-added manufacturer of printed circuit board technologies operating multiple sites around the world through a of companies in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

Multek, a Vision Solutions for nearly two years, needed an enterprise data integration solution that would address two needs.

It needed to link its enterprise resource planning systems to communicate back and forth, and it needed to send information from its data warehouse system to the company`s 14 sites around the world in real-time.
