Vision Solutions, Peribit Networks enter into global distribution agreement

IDION Technology Holdings` subsidiary Vision Solutions, the industry standard in eServer High Availability, and Peribit Networks, a leader in application delivery over the WAN, have entered into a global distribution agreement under which Vision will market and sell Peribit products both directly and through its global partner network to customers.

High availability and data replication best practices require near real-time transfer of business-critical and time-sensitive data through communication lines to remote locations.

In many cases, existing WAN links are already operating at maximum capacity and cannot accommodate the additional loads that data replication traffic imposes. In addition, data replication traffic can adversely impact the performance of other business critical applications and file sharing programs when running through the same communication lines. Unfortunately, simply upgrading bandwidth is often not the answer due to both cost and access to available lines. The solution is to compress and minimise data flow while maintaining integrity in the data.

Based on its PeriSphere architecture, Peribit platforms integrate best-in-class technologies that deliver memory-based compression, disk-based sequence caching, TCP acceleration, bandwidth management, path optimisation and network visibility to accelerate application performance over WANs. Compression creates available bandwidth to deliver applications and TCP acceleration speeds application performance by reducing the impact of latency. Peribit platforms are deployed on WAN links that connect data centres and branch offices to accelerate enterprise applications including enterprise resource planning, e-mail, voice over IP and data replication.

Benchmark testing completed by both companies and joint customers shows an improvement of seven to 20 times in compression and reduction in bandwidth traffic resulting in an increase in throughput capacity of three to four times. At these levels, customers are assured that their high availability and disaster recovery applications are operating up-to-the-minute, providing the confidence of true availability.
