VMware unveils vCenter products

VMware has released two new products: VMware vCenter AppSpeed and VMware vCenter Chargeback, reports Computerworld.

VMware vCenter AppSpeed provides service-level reporting and performance management for multi-tier applications running in virtual machines and VMware vCenter Chargeback reports on costs associated with the use of virtual infrastructure.

Andre Kemp, senior product marketing manager for VMware Australia and New Zealand, says virtualisation is at the top of the agenda of many local CIOs.

Award reinforces virtualisation

The presentation of the 'Storage virtualisation product of the year' award to LSI by Storage Magazine reinforces the role that virtualisation technologies have to play, according to the company, states Zycko.

LSI's StoreAge Storage Virtualisation Manager was given the accolade by the publication in its sixth year of presenting the awards, which recognise people, products and services as being outstanding in a vote by readers.

Don Fautt, director of software marketing storage solutions at LSI, says the award "reinforces the critical economic role that storage virtualisation now plays in enterprise IT centres around the world".

Virtualisation comes of age

Enterprises in the Middle East are reaching a level of maturity as they move beyond the initial stage of deployment of virtualisation technology, says Business 24-7.

Technology companies specialising in "must have" technologies such as virtualisation required to do a lot of convincing earlier with a or an IT manager, but that is not the case anymore, said Reza Malekzadeh, senior director of products and marketing for virtualisation software company VMware EMEA.

"Customers in the region have moved beyond the initial stages of virtualisation and are now looking at how to take the technology forward to reach a level of maturity. We have more than 300 customers in the Middle East with 1 300 people employed only in the EMEA region, which says a lot."
