Vodacom has introduced an add-on for prepaid customers that offers an hour of talk time, unlimited SMSes and data allocation.
The new product - My5 - is part of Vodacom Free4Sho, and is a bolt-on to the operator's Vodacom4Less and Daily Free Calls prepaid plans.
Phil Patel, chief of Vodacom's consumer business unit, says the company built the model by taking an existing prepaid product, Power Hour, and adding SMS and data.
"The idea is for our prepaid customer to choose five people that they interact with more frequently and register them on the My5 service so they can talk to them for an hour any time of day."
To sign up for My5 daily bundles, customers must first link at least one Vodacom number by dialling *111*5#. Prepaid customers can also purchase the My5 bundles, change links and check balances via *111*5#.
