Vodacom Business has two new DSL offerings, with speeds of 8Mbps and 10Mbps.

This follows the June introduction of Vodacom's initial business ADLS , and comes at a time when Telkom is in the process of upgrading its lines to support speeds of 10Mbps.

Businesses will pay R4 199 per month (excluding VAT) for the 8Mbps and R6 199 per month (excluding VAT) for the 10Mbps service, according to the company. This includes a Billion 7404 VGOX router (enabled for VOIP, 3G failover and ), but excludes the price of installation and line rental from Telkom.

The service is uncapped, but is shaped. However, Vodacom Business says those who elect to make use of this particular service will have priority on the lines. The offer includes:

* Optional 3G failover;
* An analogue phone;
* A Billion 7404 VGOX router on 12- or 24-month contract;
* WiFi ability;
* Five static IP addresses; and
* Fully restored service.

Similar offerings are already available from other ISPs, including MWeb, Imaginet and MTN Business.

MWeb has an uncapped 10Mbps business offering, for R4 999 per month, which likewise includes a router and five IP addresses, but, unlike Vodacom's offer, it is unshaped.

Imaginet offers a Business Unlimited 1 024Kbps ADSL account, for R1 759 per month (excluding VAT and line rental), which is both uncapped and unshaped.

MTN Business has a different business model, which allows companies to tailor their own services, starting with a R224 static fee and then being adjusted according to the speed and the amount of used. According to the ISP, businesses can, therefore, pay anything from a few hundred rand to R4 000 for 10Mbps, depending on their traffic.

Telkom says its ISP branch - Do Broadband - does not yet offer a 10Mbps package, as not all lines can support 10Mbps yet, though it will offer one in future. The operator cautions that businesses will need to make sure they have the infrastructure and capacity to make use of such high speeds, before they place any orders with ISPs.

As an added offer, Vodacom says users who sign up for its DSL service in the next three months will receive VOIP vouchers of R50 per month, every month, until March 2011.

When MWeb released its 10Mbps Business ADSL service last month, it offered 300 free WiFi minutes.
