Vodacom grows customer base

SA's biggest mobile operator, Vodacom, announced today that group revenue increased by 14.5% year-on-year, while its customer base grew by 6.6% since 30 June 2007.

As at 30 June, this year, the company says it recorded 34.6 million customers across its networks operating in SA, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho and Mozambique.

This reflects a 1.7% increase in the three months since 31 March 2008.

Vodacom's non-South African operations increased their total customer base by 5.4% since 31 March 2008, to 9.7 million customers.
