Leading cellular network operator Vodacom today announced that a record 5 million customers have been connected to its network, confirming its position as the market leader in South Africa and the fastest growing cellular network on the African continent.
Says Joan Joffe, Group Executive Corporate Affairs, "We are pleased that through the success and growth of our organisation we have been able to make a significant contribution to the upliftment of many people in our country."
Through the Vodacom community services programme, as many as 60 million calls are made from phone shops in underserviced areas every month, making these centres some of the busiest in the country. Vodacom has also changed and enhanced the lives of many South Africans through projects implemented via the Vodacom Foundation.
