The Vodafone Smart Tab has been released locally by Vodacom. The branded tablet runs Honeycomb 3.2 and has built-in 3G and WiFi capabilities.
Quietly unveiled on the Vodacom Web site last week, the operator says the Smart Tab has a long battery life, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and 16GB internal storage (expandable to 32GB with a microSD). It also has a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera.
According to Vodacom, the Smart Tab is preloaded with content and apps (in addition to the standard Android apps) such as QuickOffice Pro, e-mail, instant messaging and Twitter. Dropbox is also preinstalled on the tablet.
The seven-inch version is priced at R3 699 prepaid, while the 10-inch Smart Tab goes for R4 699 prepaid. Alternatively, they are also available on the MyMeg500, MyGig1 or MyGig2 contracts.
The Vodafone Smart Tab is available for purchase at participating Vodacom outlets.
The Smart Tab was released by Vodafone in a number of European countries towards the end of last year.
