CFO Leon Crouse is resigning with effect from 31 March 2008, says The Vodacom Group.
"Mr Crouse has decided to make a career change and will join Remgro on 1 April 2008. We will announce his successor in due course," says Vodacom spokesperson Dot Field in a media statement.
Crouse joined Vodacom in 1993 as a founder member of the management team at its inception. He served as Vodacom's GM of finance from 1993 to 1996; he was then appointed CFO. Crouse was also a director of several Vodacom Group companies.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a certificate in the theory of accounting from the University of Port Elizabeth. He is a chartered accountant.
"Mr Crouse has been an integral part of our success and will be sorely missed, not only as a world class CFO, but as a confidante and a friend," says Field.
Remgro is a diversified investment holding company, formed in April 2000, following the restructuring of the former tobacco company Rembrandt Group.
Remgro's interests include tobacco products, banking and financial services, printing and packaging, motor components, medical services, mining, petroleum products, food, wine and spirits. It is not clear yet in what capacity Crouse joins the company.
