SHiFT Interactive Communication has successfully completed the first phase development of Vodacom`s new interactive self- application that has been installed at Vodaworld on fourteen interactive terminals.

The system, designed to give access to Vodacom`s full range of products and services, makes use of richest media yet seen on any interactive self-service device.

"A large portion of Vodacom`s customers do not have access to the vast benefits of the . Vodacom has seen this and is committed to extending the benefits of technology to everyone regardless of their technical knowledge or budget" says Samantha MacNaughton, Executive Head of Vodaworld.

"In co-operation with SHiFT, Vodacom has created an application that allows people to have a great experience whilst getting valuable information and services without needing prior technology experience" MacNaughton adds.

The system is able to deliver free email, SMS and virtual e-postcards, the ability to download ringtones, logos and picture messaging as well as a cellpone handset browser with a large selection of handsets available which allows customers to view, choose and compare the different handsets in real time. You can get information on Vodacom`s packages and pre-paid offerings, view an archive of their television commercials and so much more.

The system is fully -aware and is managed by SHiFT from a remote site. The technology developed for this system is a world-first in many instances and it further reinforces SHiFT`s position as the leader in self-service application and content development.

"Companies are fast realising that if the software product is hard to use and fails to deliver an experience then people will not use it" states Michael Earl SHiFT`s Creative Director. "If you create a product that has intuitive, entertaining and media rich interfaces, that also delivers simple information to users, then you give value to the wealth of technology that sits behind the interface. If the interface fails, nothing will get the value to the customers" Earl concludes.
