Voice, video messaging solution unveiled

Glenayre Messaging will announce Versera Active Messaging, an interactive voice and video messaging solution, at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona on the 13 February, reports India Info Online.

The active messaging solution enables subscribers to immediately purchase, subscribe, download, provide feedback, tell a friend, or request more information while reviewing the multimedia content delivered to their mailbox.

SMS speeds STI treatment

Sending test results of Chlamydia by SMS can speed up treatment, United Press International reports.

The report quotes a six-month study on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) conducted by British newspaper The Journal, where the time to treatment was significantly shorter when results were sent by SMS compared to when they are communicated through standard methods (informing the patient in person).

Treatment for the test group took place within 8.5 days on average, compared to 15 days for the standard practice group, the report says.

UK SMEs utilise mobile messaging

The small and medium enterprise (SME) community in the UK has embraced using mobile phones to send messages and using e-mail solutions, says Unstrung.

According to market research carried out by the Mobile Association, many SMEs (which have up to 250 employees) are regularly sending and receiving SMSes for their day-to-day inter office communication. Users are also providing timely information for colleagues and customers about products and services using mobile messaging, the report says.
