A call has been issued for entries in this year`s Technology Top 100 (TT100) awards.

The TT100 is a business excellence awards programme that rewards organisations that use technology and innovation to make their operations more competitive.

It is open to small businesses and large enterprises in any sector, as well as to science councils and universities.

Professor Roy Marcus, chairman and founder of TT100, says the technology could include a product, system or process in which no hard artefact is involved.

"In particular we are looking for organisations that are developing new technology or using existing technology in innovative ways."

Marcus says an encouraging trend shown in the awards adjudication process is that local organisations are developing technologies that are particularly relevant in the South African context, but also find appeal on the international stage.

Stephan Lamprecht, TT100 GM, notes that the awards help place entrants on the "national stage of business activity".

Eskom is the private sector sponsor of the awards programme, with the Department of Science and Technology providing government support and endorsement.

For entry details, contact Carol Varga at the Engineering Association at (011) 900-4466.
