How the Web will handle the public's demand for a live view of the service is a mystery, especially considering news Web sites buckled under the weight of the public's need for news on the singer's death last month.
CNN plans to stream the memorial service with hosts Anderson Cooper, Larry King, Don Lemon, and Soledad O'Brien. Facebook members will have access to the CNN Live feed thanks to a partnership with the TV news channel.
McAfee glitch causes havoc
A VirusScan update from McAfee caused mayhem for some IT administrators over the weekend, after it falsely reported a range of critical system files were infected with a Trojan, reports Computing.co.uk.
The problem became apparent when users began posting to the company's forums, complaining of false positives and even some cases of the dreaded blue screen of death.
The issue seems to affect only those users running an outdated version of the VirusScan engine, but some running the latest version also reported false positives, although not with critical system files.
Attacks target Microsoft flaw
Microsoft is investigating attacks targeting a Microsoft Video ActiveX Control vulnerability that could allow a hacker to gain complete control of a system, says eWeek.
Not much has been said about the exact nature of the vulnerability, which is so far reported to affect Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
If the vulnerability is successfully exploited, the attacker could gain the same user rights as the local user.
EMC raises bid for Data Domain
The stakes have been raised yet again in the ongoing saga to acquire storage vendor Data Domain, reports MarketWatch.
EMC has upped its bid for Data Domain to $33.50 per share in cash, a deal worth about $2.1 billion.
The company said its all-cash offer is "clearly superior" to NetApp's proposal of $30 per share in cash and stock.
iPod Touch could get camera
One of the features iPod Touch users have been requesting from Apple is a camera. According to reports, they may be getting their wish, states cnet.
While attributing its information only to "sources in Asia", TechCrunch claims Apple has placed an order for camera modules destined for the next version of the iPod Touch.
The size of the order, according to TechCrunch, is "massive".
