The Insider Trading Directorate has opened two new investigations, one into trade in shares of IT company Rectron.
The directorate has also begun to probe trade in shares of investment company Corpcapital.
It says the Rectron investigation relates to trade in Rectron shares before the 25 March announcement that Mustek intended buying the shares belonging to Rectron minority shareholders.
It is scrutinising trades that took place between 15 January and 25 March this year.
Mustek and Rectron first issued a joint cautionary notice on 15 January, saying they were involved in negotiations.
The directorate has closed four investigations, involving DNA Supply Chain Investments, Discovery Holdings, Sanlam and Trematon Capital Investments.
"Investigations are closed once it becomes evident that no or insufficient evidence has been obtained to warrant action in terms of the Insider Trading Act," the directorate says.
Trading in the shares of 26 companies are still under investigation. Nine are technology-related companies: Global Technology, Ixchange Technology Holdings, M-Cell, Metropolis Transactive Holdings, Omega Alpha International Info Technology Holdings, Prism Holdings, Rectron Holdings, Sempres International Technology Holdings and Top Info Technology Holdings.
The directorate has emphasised that it is investigating share trades, not the companies themselves.
