Western Province rugby union skills up with CS Holdings

Professional Western Province rugby players are being skilled up in computers as part of the WP Rugby Union`s plan to provide the players with career-enhancing skills and to streamline its internal operations, courtesy of JSE-listed CS Holdings` Solutions division in Cape Town.

"Rugby has truly entered the professional world and all of our players are now involved on a full time basis," says Rob Wagner, chairman of the WPRU.

"However, with the advancements in IT we saw the need to add to the professional skills of the players by training them on programmes such as Windows 98, the MS Office suite, and in certain cases, A+ and + certification."

The WPRU hopes to be able to integrate these new skills into their internal processes, be it through statistics, analyses of games, training schedule updates via email or long-distance tour reporting. Initially the team consists of 30 players but this is set to rise once the WP Springboks are released from their national obligations, says Freddie Kleynhans, Manager of CS Education Solutions` Cape Town branch.
