
Westinghouse selects GenSight PPM
Westinghouse Electric Company has selected GenSight, a project portfolio management (PPM) software company, as the core planning platform for the company's idea capture and R&D project selection capability, says Sys-Con Media.
Westinghouse, a player in the nuclear power industry, selected GenSight to provide a PPM tool to help govern the company's innovation portfolio from idea generation through commercialisation.
Richard Anderson, principal engineer for Westinghouse says: “GenSight was selected by Westinghouse based on its technical capabilities, configuration flexibility, and PPM business experience.”
India govt stresses effective PM
Effective project execution and monitoring with control of cost and time are key to the success of any project, said Pankaj Jain, additional secretary in India's Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, reports Express Buzz.
He was delivering the inaugural address at the CII conference on 'Project management: orchestrating complex projects', in Chennai, last week.
TT Ashok, deputy chairman of industry association CII (SR), said: “Project management is a booming profession in India which is only going to get bigger in the coming days.”
Projen exceeds energy reduction target
Projen, a project management company, says it has exceeded GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) energy reduction targets at the Stevenage Chemistry Pilot Plant, writes Consultant News.
The reduction is said to save the facility £250 000 and 1 600 tonnes of CO2, 6% ahead of the GSK corporate target to achieve a 20% reduction in energy usage by the end of 2010.
“The energy savings achieved on this site demonstrate the experience and professionalism of our project and energy management professionals,” says Martin Seabrook, Projen's MD.
