Ken Jarvis, CIO at the South African Revenue Service (SARS), has handed in his resignation, four months after Andre van der Post, chief technologist, left the organisation to start his own operation specialising in ICT strategy work.
In his position as CIO, Jarvis has transformed SARS into a globally-recognised IT organisation in three-and-a-half years.
The single view of the taxpayer project has been acknowledged worldwide as an example of excellence in transforming public services.
Jarvis will leave SARS at the end of March to embark on a new venture. He has denied reports that he will join Van der Post at Stirling StrategICT, a strategic technology consulting firm in the areas of architecture, technology choice and implementation strategy.
