Wincor Nixdorf supplies CIMB
German automated machine manufacturer Wincor Nixdorf will be supplying Malaysia's Commerce International Merchant Bank (CIMB) with technology to upgrade and expand its network of automated money machines, particularly its system for payment of bank notes, reports Bernama.
German sources say that CIMB has shifted its long-winded process of depositing cash: bank customers in Malaysia are said to frequently deposit large sums of bank notes to a kind of self service.
Besides the 650 systems which facilitate cash deposits, the bank has installed a further 680 cash withdrawal systems. The roll-out has already begun and should be completed by the end of this year, according to the sources.
Defence debuts self-service computing
The Defence Information Systems Agency (Disa) unveiled a new service this week that gives Defence Department agencies access to on-demand, pay-as-you-go computing, states FCW.com.
"It is basically true cloud computing where we give them a certain amount of storage, a certain amount of processing, and they pay for it on a monthly basis," said Alfred Rivera, director of Disa's Center for Computing Services. "When they're done, they can just shut it off."
Hewlett-Packard is supplying the technology that enables Disa's rapid access computing environment.
