Dax Data, the local Web-enablement specialist and distributor of, among others, NetManage host access products, has announced a new version of NetManage ViewNow X Server for Windows.
Jeremy Matthews, MD of Dax Data, says the new release integrates application management and training as well as providing Windows 2000 installer functions, centralised applications, and cross-platform support.

Developed specifically for businesses with new or legacy X applications requiring access by non-Unix users, the product allows users to experience the applications as if running locally on the Windows desktop. Integrated management functionality as well as customisation and network diagnostic tools simplify software configuration, deployment, and administration.
"The complex e-business environments so prevalent today are demanding simplified access to information," says Matthews. "By integrating ViewNow X Server with Windows 2000 NetManage enables users to do much more with X applications via a their desktop PCs."
ViewNow X Server was designed specifically for organisations using legacy X applications or new ones requiring access by non-Unix users. The product offers Windows 95, 98, NT and Windows 2000 access to memory-intensive, graphics-rich applications running on central Unix servers.
Other new features include an enhanced control panel useful for manipulating X clients and configuring X Servers and performance tuning which adds 100% CPU fix and enables graphics improvements through the investigation of Pixmaps.
"Real-time application support has been enabled by adding SupportNow to the product," says Matthews. "This reduces the time and cost of diagnosing and solving problems as well as enabling just-in-time user training."
