Increased laptop shipments, 802.11n WiFi deployments, and mobile VOIP demand will help drive growth in the wireless networking industry in 2008, experts predict, according to Teleclick.
Wireless networking has performed strongly in 2007 after a "bumpy adolescence" in previous years, according to AirMagnet MD, Ian Schenkel.
Security concerns, among other issues, will continue to challenge wireless deployments, Schenkel said, but 2007 will likely be remembered as the year the wireless industry finally grew up.
BSNL invites proposals
BSNL, India's number one Internet service provider, has proposals for the provision of a VOIP service throughout India, reports VOIP-News.
Several companies submitted proposals by the deadline of 28 December 2007, including Sterlite Optical, Aksh Optifibre, Indus Online and Smart Broadband.
BSNL has now extended the deadline as new enquiries are still being received. Only four companies will be chosen by BSNL to provide the service.
