Women tech training gets funding

The Canadian province of Ohsweken is providing a funding boost to a programme that trains Aboriginal women for hi-tech jobs, says the Spec.

Laurel Broten, minister responsible for women's issues, is expected in the province to announce $166 225 for the Women in Skilled Trades and Information Technology Training programme.

The nine-month IT training programme prepares women to work as technical support agents.

India unveils tele-education project

Indian minister L Jayentakumar has unveiled the tele-education project, a major initiative to provide satellite-based tele-education facilities to students, particularly to and engineering aspirants, writes e-Pao.

Speaking at a function held at TG Higher Secondary, Jayentakumar said the project would help aspiring students in preparing for the entrance exams for medical and engineering studies.

The minister added that the students would get the facilities of learning from well-experienced teachers across the country through an online television .

Louisiana gets ethics e-training

The US state's ethics administration office is offering online ethics training for Louisiana-elected officials, reports Eyewitness.

The legislature has mandated ethics training for all elected officials to complete each year, to describe the restrictions with which they must comply while in office.

The new online site will let them get that training without having to wait for ethics administration staff to travel to them for an in-person session.
