Woolworths UK reborn online

Following the demise of the 800-plus store Woolworths chain in the UK, the brand has been reborn online with a product range that includes music CDs, DVDs and games, states Billboard Biz.

The Web site, Woolworths.co.uk, is operated by online and home shopping Internet brand Shop Direct Group, which bought the Woolworths name from the administrator.

Alongside the 'main shop' section, there is a 'party' store and the 'entertainment shop'.

NetSuite adds Google Checkout functionality

NetSuite, a vendor of on-demand, integrated business management software, has announced the availability of Google Checkout for online merchants currently running their operations on the NetSuite e-commerce platform, reports PR Newswire.

The new feature provides a seamless interface between the NetSuite shopping cart and the Google Checkout online payment service.

NetSuite's integration of Google Checkout delivers an all-in-one payment platform for e-commerce businesses that can reduce shopping cart abandonment and increase sales.

Twitter helps e-commerce sites

Social media site Twitter has the potential to help online retailers significantly boost traffic to their e-commerce Web sites, says BluHalo.

New figures from Hitwise indicate that while almost 56% of all downstream traffic from Twitter is sent to content-driven sites such as news portals and social networks, just 9.5% goes to transactional sites such as e-commerce, travel and business Web sites.

"With one or two exceptions, very few transactional Web sites have yet used Twitter to drive sales," Robin Goad, research director at Hitwise, said.
