Explix Technologies, trading as Workgroup, has announced that it has been appointed as OEM software distributor for the IBM SA office.
Workgroup is one of the local IBM software distributors in South Africa and this appointment further extends Workgroup`s existing software portfolio of distributing IBM`s U2 product suite as well as all the software products included in the Passport Advantage programs (DB2, Lotus, Websphere, Tivoli, Rational, etc).
This is according to Jacqui Powell, IBM U2 general manager at Workgroup, who says the introduction of the OEM programme allows independent software vendors (ISVs) the opportunity of trading via a different structure based on the IBM products being embedded within their solution or software application.
Says Doug Woolley, MD of Workgroup: "This is an exciting opportunity for software vendors whose applications and solutions are database independent as well as for those where the IBM software is part and parcel of their solution or application as sold on to end-users."
