World Computer Systems joins Intel Inside Programme

Local PC components distributor World Computer Systems (WCS) has joined the Intel Inside Programme, a move that will see the company receive financial assistance from Intel for advertising and marketing campaigns that promote visibility of the Intel brand.

The programme is open to all Intel`s OEM distributors, Intel Product Integrator (IPI) partners and Intel Premier Partners (IPP) that assemble their own PCs incorporating Intel CPUs and processors.

Intel rebates programme members between 25% and 75% of their advertising spend.

Mohammad Denath, co-founder and marketing director of WCS, says being a member of the Intel Inside Programme will assist his company with its own brand marketing and promotion efforts.

"Our ultimate goal is to grow our Intel business and sell more motherboards and processors and, eventually, qualify as an Intel Premier Partner (IPP). The support the vendor has given us both technically and in terms of warranties has been phenomenal.

"It is a challenge for us to grow our volumes on the Intel side of our business," Denath adds. "We believe with the sales and technical training that Intel has been conducting with us, it will not be long before WCS lands full Intel OEM distribution rights."

Mark Bray, channel marketing manager at Intel South Africa, says there are several stringent criteria that Intel has set for partners that would like to join the programme. "Of utmost importance is the requirement for partners to buy their Intel components from the authorised distribution channels. It is encouraging to see that WCS is intent on growing its Intel business and hopefully, meeting the criteria to qualify as an IPP. The bottom line is that WCS will have to commit and meet certain volumes for it to earn this recognition," Bray concludes.
