World soccer: `Give us SA stadium access technology`

Stadiums in Brazil to benefit
Johannesburg, 01 Aug 2005

The South African company Dex Security Solutions, which forms part of the international Dex Group of companies, is being inundated with enquiries from international soccer stadium managers in connection with access control and security systems.

Dex also had to respond to enquiries from the US, the UK, Turkey, Sudan, Ghana, Botswana and Brazil about an infallible stadium control system.

The interest follows in the wake of the immense success achieved by Dex during the Cricket World Cup Tournament in SA. Not one single successful case of fraud or duplicated ticket use was reported during the tournament.

Dex recently installed two turnstiles at the Volta Redonda stadium in the state of Rio de Janeiro as part of a successful pilot project. Dex technology also enabled the stadium to produce its own tickets.

Marcello Monaco, CEO of Dex Brazil, says Dex is in a very advanced stage of negotiations with a number of soccer stadiums and gymnasiums in Brazil. The projects will commence within the next three months.

These Brazilian gyms are major complexes where indoor sports such as volleyball, handball and soccer are played. The number of people moving in and out of these gyms vary between 2 000 and 10 000 per day. The capacity of the South American soccer stadiums with whom that Dex is negotiating, varies between 70 000 and 100 000 spectators.

Dex Brazil is also negotiating with the organisers of fairs and exhibitions, where mobile turnstiles will be used to control the access of up to 400 000 people who visit such events.
