Wozniak joins start-up board
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is joining the advisory board of search start-up DeepDyve, states Vindy.com.
DeepDyve chief executive William Park said he got to know Wozniak through mutual acquaintances and wanted him on the board because of the personal computing pioneer's passion for the convergence of technology and education.
Park said the advisory board, which meets twice a year, is intended to help shape the company's strategy and the direction of its products.
Kyocera drives LTE
Kyocera Communications has joined the NG Connect Programme, a multi-industry initiative designed to help drive the development of next-generation broadband services for Long Term Evolution (LTE), reports Business Wire.
NG Connect members span five major categories of applications and solutions: consumer media and entertainment, enterprise collaboration/e-healthcare and productivity, automotive connectivity, digital signage, and broadband computing.
Eiichi Toriyama, president of Kyocera Communications, says: “Kyocera has a rich history in the development and advancement of emerging wireless technologies and, as part of the NG Connect Programme, we welcome the opportunity to help shape the future of LTE and other next-generation technologies.”
Virtual Computer releases NxTop Now
Virtual Computer has unveiled its NxTop Now program and NxTop 1.0, the first client-side virtualisation technology that supports central management and distributed execution, states FoxBusiness.
Ronni Coville, VP analyst from Gartner, says: "The PC life cycle configuration management tool market is mature, but virtualisation, mobility, and the convergence of security and operations are affecting customer buying decisions.”
According to Coville, desktop managers are now recognising the value of how virtualisation technologies can compliment, supplement or augment PC configuration management tools, especially for supporting mobile users and other roaming scenarios.
