Xbox 360 gets new GTA content

Johannesburg, 26 Jan 2009

New content for Grand Auto (GTA) IV will be released exclusively on the Xbox 360 on 17 February, via the Xbox Live .

Dubbed The Lost and the Damned, this episode will put players in the boots of biker Johnny Klebitz, member of the Lost biker gang that played a bit role in the main game, and allow them to participate in a whole new story complete with new locations, weapons, vehicles and characters.

"Making these episodes has enabled us to expand the narrative and the experience of interacting with a game world in really innovative ways," said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games. "We hope fans of the game enjoy the new way of experiencing life in Liberty City contained in this first episode."

Estimated to be about a third the size of the original game, The Lost and the Damned offers players new missions that intersect with the original's storyline. Rockstar has revealed the price of the expansion to be 1600 Microsoft Points, which equates to roughly R190.

The expansion's single-player gameplay should provide a few hours of additional entertainment within Liberty City, with new multiplayer modes extending its online life indefinitely.

Microsoft paid $50 million to ensure the initial exclusivity of GTA IV on the Xbox 360 in an effort to boost console sales.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned requires players to have the full version of Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live membership to download. Online play requires Xbox Live Gold membership, a paid subscription service.
