Xerox has announced its entry into the market space that addresses the SOHO requirement for a "bundled" solution. The sub-$100 ( R600) four-colour thermal inkjet printer - the DocuPrint C6 - offers a full feature set, including the cost-effective, individually replaceable ink containers.
"With this offering XCG intends to aggressively grab marketshare in the retail/mass market area. We are traditionally known for our strength in the mid-high end printers, and this expertise is now available at the very low end," says Angie Samuel, marketing manager at Xerox Channels Group (XCG) SA.
"Entry into the mass consumer market will provide end-users with quality and great features when they`re looking at a SOHO bundled solution."
The Xerox DocuPrint C6 offers laser-like crisp, black text with waterproof inks. It also delivers built-in photorealistic printing and has an intelligent colour print driver with job presets. There is also a separate printhead, which means the customer doesn`t replace his printhead when the ink runs out making it more cost effective.
"The Xerox DocuPrint C6 features a full one-year warranty and operates in Microsoft Windows 95 and 98 environments. It will be available in a bundled format with PCs and such other items as software, modems and SOHO office equipment," Samuel concludes.
