Xerox introduces most productive colour system with next-generation chemical toner

Xerox DocuColor 3535 printer/copier delivers powerful combination of quality, speed and affordability, accelerating shift from black-and-white to colour
Johannesburg, 24 May 2003

Xerox is making the quality, affordability and productivity of its high-performance chemical toner available in its fastest mid-range colour multifunction system yet. The new Xerox DocuColor 3535 Printer/Copier combines Xerox-exclusive Emulsion Aggregation (EA) toner with the market-proven print engines of the Xerox DocuColor 12 and DocuColor 2000 families.

Developed at the Xerox Research Centre of Canada, EA toner is a super-smooth form of dry ink that is chemically grown - not crushed - into uniform particles. It results in exceptional image quality, high reliability and lower operating costs. The DocuColor 3535, which prints and copies up to 35 colour or monochrome pages per minute, is the fastest product to incorporate this advanced marking technology.

It is also designed to be the colour and black-and-white output workhorse in office departments, where its range of features, easy-to-use colour management tools and network scanning capabilities are critical. Users can scan, copy, print and load paper all at once.

"The transition from monochrome to digital colour printing and copying is happening rapidly, especially in mid-range workgroup and production environments, driven by new products that regularly set new price and performance benchmarks and users who recognise the value of colour," says Ron Gilboa, director, On Demand Printing & Publishing, CAP Ventures.

"By leveraging the print engine technology of the Xerox DocuColor 12 and promising imaging supplies - EA Toner - the DocuColor 3535 is sure to accelerate this transition. And that should translate to overall growth in colour print volume."

"The DocuColor 3535 allows even casual users to produce professional-quality, full-colour, finished documents quickly and easily, while enabling economical production of both black and white and colour jobs," says Jim Miller, president, Xerox Office Group. "This will be the product of choice for high-quality, low-cost mid-range printing, copying and scanning."

The DocuColor 3535 is driven by an integrated Fiery( Network Controller from Electronics for Imaging (EFI). The built-in controller offers colour management tools and a comprehensive suite of EFI`s technologies.

Concludes Amanda Kelly colour product manager of Xerox South Africa, "We will start taking orders for the DocuColor 3535 in April and installations will begin in May. Distribution of the DocuColor 3535 and its supplies is through Xerox direct sales representatives, agents and concessionaires."
