Storage array vendor XIOtech Corporation has announced its network-attached storage (NAS) offering, available in SA through local XIOtech partner, Smart Storage Technologies (SmartStor). XIOtech's MAGNITUDE hardware platform can now be deployed as a storage foundation for NAS and SAN environments, delivering flexibility and simplicity to end-users.
Says Vaughan Beattie, manager, Strategic Business Development at SmartStor: "The XIOtech MAGNITUDE hardware platform, coupled with sophisticated virtualisation software, provides the ideal foundation for XIOtech to build its NAS offerings. As it does in a SAN environment, the MAGNITUDE hardware platform centralises data and applications for NAS environments, making storage easy to manage, and allowing for resource consolidation and scalability."
XIOtech's virtualised storage architecture removes complexity, reducing labour and improving space utilisation.

XIOtech has already announced a solution connecting the MAGNITUDE hardware platform to an Ethernet network to serve as a NAS device, using VERITAS ServPoint NAS for Solaris 8, with announcements on a NAS solution with Novell expected later this quarter.
