XON Systems, a local black-owned information and technology systems company, has appointed John Makhetha as director to head up its public sector business.
Makhetha's appointment strengthens XON's empowerment foundation, structured according to the four widely recognised pillars of empowerment: ownership, employment equity, procurement and social responsibility.
"We have restructured our business during the past three years to achieve the profile we need to procure government business," says XON Group CEO Carel Coetzee. "John's appointment strengthens that profile and will allow us to capitalise on our investment."
Makhetha's immediate goals focus on government awareness and BEE.
"My primary short-term goal is to strengthen awareness of XON in government departments and also strengthen XON's BEE foundation in key areas," says Makhetha, an 18-year veteran of the IT sector.
"John's experience and personal profile complement our business and our government focus," says Coetzee. "A large percentage of our business is derived from government departments and, with his intimate knowledge of the industry, John is best suited to capitalise and build on this."
