Zibusiso Mkhwanazi launches the Mkhwanazi academy for Christian entrepreneurship (MACE)

Johannesburg, 13 Feb 2009

Twenty-five-year-old Zibusiso Mkhwanazi, entrepreneur, chairman of Krazyboyz Digital and ARM Advertising, is launching a first ever for South Africa, a Christian Entrepreneurship school next weekend, 21 February.

The Mkhwanazi Academy for Christian Entrepreneurship, (MACE), will be based in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, and aims to attract youths from ages 18 to 35 years of age. The fees will range from R300 to R1 500 for a six-month course, in starting or growing a business.

“The academy aims to develop entrepreneurs from the most disadvantaged to the most affluent background, but what sets this programme apart is that it is based along Christian principles,” says Mkhwanazi, who recently walked away the Top ICT Young Entrepreneur in Africa at the 10th annual African Achievers awards 2008.

Mkhwanazi said: “Our programmes focus on Christian driven prosperity, innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship. MACE graduates will be supported by government institutions, corporates and private NGOs, and will become a new breed of ethical South African entrepreneurs. MACE is an accredited Cisco Entrepreneur Institute and the content will be provided, among others, by Cornell and Stanford University, but the content will be customised for the local business environment and facilitated by local entrepreneurs.”

Professor Mohale Mahanyele, veteran businessman, who will be the Chairperson of MACE, said: “The significance of the school is of such a magnitude of magnanimity and humble contribution towards nation building. My role is to abet this noble gesture by a young man who is so selfless and committed to people.”

On the morning of the launch of MACE in Vosloorus, there will be registration and orientation of learners, but later in the afternoon there will be a musical launch concert, where YFM's DJ Sbu will perform with some of his artists from TS Records, including Robbie Malinga, Bricks, Solly Vista, ProKid, Red Button, Izinyoka and others. DJ Sbu, himself an entrepreneur, is a supporter of MACE. “When I heard about Zibusiso opening this entrepreneurship school I was blown away. I have known Zibusiso for some time and what he is doing is commendable, him and I share the same principles, of being young Christian men, also businesspeople and social entrepreneurs. My role is helping the school find funding from my own networks.”

Venue:
Vosloorus Civic Centre
Time: 10am till 9pm for registration and orientation. Concert: 4pm to 9pm
