ZTE, as a global telecommunications company with a footprint in the South African market, shifted its focus from business as usual. A prestigious occasion was held to consolidate a longstanding partnership with Edeaf, a learning institution that focuses on the training and development of young deaf people.
The relationship started in December 2015, with 10 deaf students being afforded the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills through customised and accredited training by MICT SETA. The ceremony was attended by Han Xunjian, chairman of ZTE South Africa, a management representative from Edeaf, and the students themselves.
"ZTE is very proud to be a strategic partner in advancing skills and training for the deaf community; we hope our contribution will go a long way in helping those who are less privileged. We wish Edeaf and its management success in this unique initiative and we will do our best in supporting them," said Xunjian is his speech.
The learning programme will run until the end of December 2016, with a possibility of continued support when the new learners enter the system.
