Zynga sets up India studio

PC World.

This is in efforts to develop games for global markets. 'Studio-1' is the largest Zynga studio outside the US and has come about a year after Zynga set up a development centre in Bangalore.

The studio will develop new features for about eight current games from Zynga including Vampire Wars, YoVille and FishVille, says Shan Kadavil, the company's country manager for India.

According to TNW Asia, with more than 1 500 employees around the world, the company plans to hire 100 workers this year, adding to the 100 who worked in its India office last year.

About half the new employees would be game developers, the people who do the actual coding of the games, says Colleen McCreary, the company's human resources chief.

The publication says Kadavil promises that with the debut of Studio-I, Zynga is expanding its capabilities to leverage the amount of creative talent based in India for new features within Zynga's popular games.

Zynga has managed to become the most preferred online gaming platform all over the world, with Facebook being its biggest contributor, states IC Tech News.

The developer also has an audience on MySpace, Yahoo, iPod, iPad touch and iPhone.
